I get this SCSI-related message upon booting:

SCSI Command Timed Out on (0,1)
3 0 0 0 16 0
count 60001 ad_timeoutval 60 instat 0x50

dks0d1s8: error 2 status 0 on disk status check

Unable to execute pci(0)scsi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(8)/sash: IO
error

Autoboot failed
Unable to continue; press <enter> to return to the menu:

Is this disk -- plain and simple -- just hosed? Is there any way to
boot
the system or at least look at the contents of the boot disk by
removing
it and attempting to mount it elsewhere?
Would xfs_repair help?

Thanks in advance to anyone for any assistance with this.

That sounds most likely.

Looks like there isn't.

That depends on how badly the disk is hosed, but if it's so badly
hosed that you get SCSI timeouts when trying to do anything with
it, I'd say your chances are not that great.

It helps against file system corruption - but that's not what you're
looking at, you have a case of hardware failure on the disk itself.
