I get the following error on SGI Indy:

Warning: persistent break condition on serial port 0.

Diagnostics failed.
[Press any key to continue.]

What could it mean?

A break is a "space", logic 0, positive voltage, held steady on the
serial port input line for at least 125 ms. A persistant break would
be if the line does not return to the resting condition within a
reasonable time.

Some conditions that can cause short non-persistant breaks are
described at http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/770/fn-tsbreak.html

For a persistant break, either you have somehow tied a pin to
a steady voltage source, or else the serial port is somehow broken.

The port is clean, so I suppose it's fried.
Nevermind, I don't need it.
Thanks for the hints.
