I recently got an Onyx 2. I was wondering what was the most advance
processor that SGI offered for it was? Does it have multiple cores?

And, when installing RAM how should I organize it to get the most
performance (interleaving) and largest continuous block?

An onxy2 deskside can only holds 2 nodeboards. So place 4gb on every boards.

I also have an Origin 2100. The Onyx2 has one router board and the
Origin 2100 has two. Besides connecting a Cray cable from the Onyx2 to
the Origin 2100, what other changes do I need to make to connect the
two systems?

Its going to be a while before I can actually do this, I need to
install a couple of utility outlets in my apartment. I just need to
form a todo and shopping list before I get started.

You cant craylink a onyx2 deskside to any other system.

Also keep in mind that a o2100 is limited to <= 8 cpus. A nodeboard from
a o2100 machine dont work in a larger config. The system abort the boot
process of the OS and print out a warn message.

I tried installing a couple of node boards that were R10000 @ 250 Mhz.
On a wrning appears on the console saying I have 100 Mhz node plugged
into a 360 Mhz backplane. Is there a way I can correct for the speed
mismatch?

When I had the Cray Link card installed I also saw an error/warning
message saying I had a Cray Link configured for 90 Mhz plugged into 100
Mhz ... and I had to change the jumper settings. I found jumpers on the
Cray Link card, does anybody know the correct settings? Do I have to
change the jumper settings in the Onyx2?
