Hi all,

I have an Indy machine on which I want to install IRIX 6.2.
I have tried to install the system onto the following disks :
1st try: Seagate ST32155W (2GB)
2nd try: Seagate ST136403LC (36GB)
unsuccessfully.
I am following the documents provided by SGI :

SCSI DISK ID# 2 (root disk)
CDROM ID# 5
boot -f dksc(0,5,8)sashARCS
boot -f dksc(0,5,7)/stand/fx.ARCS
device dksc
ctlr# 0
drive# 2
r
ro
xfs yes
re
swap
200
use the partition layout ? yes
..
exit

Then I choose option 2 from the Menu :

2) Install System Software

I am getting the following error using the ST32155W :

1) Remote Tape 2) Remote Directory 3)[Local CD-ROM] 4) Local Tape
*a) Local SCSI CD-ROM drive 5

Enter 1-4 to select source type, a to select the source, <esc> to quit,
or <enter> to start:

Insert the installation CD-ROM, then press <enter>:

If I change the disk to ST136403LC I get the same error.

The install software does not let me go further, install gets stuck.
Does anyone provide any help on this matter ?

Thanks in advance,
Luiz Regis

Dear Jean-Philippe GEY,

Sorry for my delay in answering you. Actually, I have
posted the same subject on comp.sys.sgi.admin too,
so I did not check the comp.sys.sgi.hardware group.

Answering your questions, yes the INDY was working fine
before and suddenly after a restart it no longer booted showing
the error below.

I actually have 2 sets of RAM, 32 MB at 80ns and 128 MB at 60ns.
I guess my 2 sets of RAM are corrupted. I am waiting for new sets of
FPM
memory and let you know the results.
