Is it possible to connect other crt monitors (not sgi) like Viewsonic
g90f or where
can i find a compatible list for this question.
Many thanks to everybody for your help and services.

All you need is the right cable, really.

Ive heard you also need to worry about sync-on-green, which most modern
crts do, but its good to check. (This goes along with the correct cable
advice of course too - the far more easily available and cheaper sun
13w3 cables aren't wired correctly for this even though they look the same)

Heres someones whos hacked theirs:

although, id recommend re-soldering properly instead of breaking off
pins, but hey... whatever floats your boat.

Its possible that newer gfx options like V6 can handle this without any
special attention. I wouldn't know though.

I used to think sgi were great because they either invented, or stuck
religously to standards. Then I bought one.

Yes, you can certainly connect it. However, see

http://www.sgi.com/products/remarketed/octane2/display_resolutions.html

The upshot is that you will only get 1024x768 out of the V6-GDM17E21
combination at decent refresh rates. Don't even think about that
horrid ***@60Hz mode mentioned in footnote 2.
