Intel SC5200 mult-bay SCSI unit with SGIs?...

Dear All,

Does anyone have any experience using an Intel SC5200 SCSI storage
unit (5 or 6-bay, whichever) connected successfully to an SGI, eg.
Octane?

I have a 5-bay type, but can't get it to work with Octane. Also, it
looks like
the bottom bay tries to use ID 0 if a drive is plugged into that slot,
which is
a pain. Can the slot ID assignments be changed?

I had no luck finding detailed info on the units on intel.com, or
anywhere else.

Ian.

if it's what i think it is then you can make the ID's increase by 5 so that
2 can be chained - i cant remember how though!

the microcontroller is flash-upgradeable btw - make sure you have the
newest - if it's what i think it is :)

i am thinking it is utra-wide scsi with 68pin internal connectors and off-
white release-handles on the pullouts.

if not then disregard this whole reply!

Hmm, sounds promising!

I wonder if Intel could help...

Only UW? Rats. :\ However, could use it with O2/Octane I guess with
their normal ports.

Hmm, maybe it's only SE? Perhaps that's why it didn't work when I tried
it (connected to U160 LVD) though really it should have forced the bus
SE if it was fixed thus.

I can take some pics if you like!

Ian.
